Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my stored balance when I purchase a class using ClassWallet?

Stored balances will not be applied to an order made using the ClassWallet marketplace.

Can I enroll in a recurring class using the ClassWallet marketplace?

Yes! When you click the Subscribe button for a recurring weekly class, you can enroll in up to 18 weeks of classes (or as many weeks as the educator has scheduled). You will be charged for all weeks up front. The day the enrollment ends, you can re-enroll in the class and continue the enrollment for up to 18 weeks.

Because recurring weekly classes are pre-purchased, ClassWallet users cannot pause their enrollments in this class format. The support team is happy to help with any questions about managing your enrollment.

Can I purchase a fixed-length class with weekly payments?

ClassWallet does not allow families to use funds for recurring payments. For fixed-length classes, families can either purchase the entire class upfront or can bulk enroll for anywhere between 4 weeks and 18 weeks (up to the number of scheduled weeks) of class.

Families should select the number of weeks they would like to enroll in during checkout. Once enrollment ends, they should place a new ClassWallet order to continue participating in class.

Can I enroll in 1-on-1 tutoring classes using the ClassWallet marketplace?

Families can use their ClassWallet funds to purchase up to 12 weeks of tutoring classes. The class description page for tutoring classes will indicate class availability, showing dates and times available similar to this:

When placing the order, follow the following steps:

  1. Log in to your ClassWallet Account

  2. Visit the class listing page and click on View Availability. Select the date you would like to begin your tutoring sessions. Then, select the time you would like your tutoring sessions to take place. Click Enroll.

  3. Select the number of sessions you would like to book (up to 12) and click Next.

  4. Last, complete the remaining ClassWallet order process, and you will be all set!

If the educator is unavailable on any of the dates/times you’ve selected, this will be indicated as follows, and the total check-out price will be adjusted to reflect the sessions that were not booked.

Once you’ve completed your order on ClassWallet, you’ll receive an email from both ClassWallet and Outschool confirming the enrollment. You can then access the class at start time through your Outschool account as normal. Please read this article for more information on managing your ESA enrollments.

Note: If you would like to enroll in the same tutoring class more than 1 day a week, families will need to place separate orders for each of the separate days a week they’d like to meet.

How do I add additional meetings to my 1-on-1 tutoring enrollment?

If you would like to extend your current enrollment, you can select Add Meeting to schedule new meetings from your enrollment page. You will be able to renew your enrollment for up to 12 weeks and will be redirected to ClassWallet to complete your order.

Why is a specific class not available?

Each state’s ESA program has its own rules regarding which classes can be purchased with program funds. To understand what is eligible, please contact your state’s program directly for details on their specific regulations.

Additionally, some states require a minimum booking window—a set period of time for reviewing and approving class purchases. If a class starts before this approval window closes, it may not be available for purchase.

For more information on eligibility and approval timelines, please reach out to your state’s program directly.

How can I tell if a pending order has been completed correctly?

Once you place an order through ClassWallet, you’ll receive an order confirmation email confirming that it was submitted.

You’ll receive another notification once your order is either approved or rejected.

To check the status of your order at any time:

Can I use my ClassWallet funds to purchase an Outschool membership?

No, ClassWallet funds cannot be used to purchase an Outschool Membership. However, families can buy a membership using a personal credit card.

How do ClassWallet purchases affect membership usage?

  • Classes purchased through ClassWallet are processed separately and do not deduct from an Outschool Membership credit balance.

  • Only classes purchased directly from a parent’s Outschool account will count toward membership usage.

  • Any classes ordered via ClassWallet will be paid for using ESA funds and will not be applied toward membership credits.

What do I do if the class time no longer works for my schedule?

If the current meeting time no longer works for your schedule in a fixed-length class, you can reach out to the teacher to request a transfer to a different section. All payments made through your ESA marketplace will transfer with your enrollment. Please note that all transfer requests are at the teacher's discretion, so making this request does not guarantee a transfer.

If you would like to cancel a meeting in a 1-on-1 class, click here for detailed instructions.

If you would like to end your enrollment early in a recurring weekly class, please reach out to the support team to assist you with shortening your enrollment and issuing any necessary refunds based on the class refund policy.

How do I renew my enrollment in a recurring weekly class?

When you click the Subscribe button for a recurring weekly class, you can enroll in up to 18 weeks of classes (or as many weeks as the educator has scheduled). You will be charged for all weeks upfront. The day the enrollment ends, you can re-enroll in the class and continue for up to 18 weeks.

Please note that your program's booking window will apply.

How do refunds work for classes purchased through ClassWallet?

When you receive refunds from Outschool for classes purchased via ClassWallet, you’ll receive a confirmation email immediately, but these refunds are processed slower than regular Outschool refunds. Refunds will be visible from the transactions page immediately, but you may not see your refund reflected in your ClassWallet balance for up to 14 business days from issuance.

ClassWallet approved my order, but Outschool canceled it. Why didn’t my order process?

Orders can fail to process for various reasons, including:

  • The teacher changed their availability or canceled the class meeting(s) after the order was started

  • Another learner purchased one or more of the requested meeting times before the pending enrollment was processed

  • An order was flagged as a duplicate by ClassWallet and was rejected

  • All seats were taken in the class before the order was processed

  • There was a delay during the approval process and the class started before the order was approved

  • The order was created with a link that is not compatible with ClassWallet (e.g.; auto-scheduled sections and recurring private meetings in 1-on-1 classes)

While orders are being approved, ClassWallet holds the funds for enrollment until the order is processed completely. When a class is unavailable or an order is not approved, ClassWallet will return the funds to your account balance.

Outschool does not collect payment until the order is approved and the enrollment is complete.

Parents can contact the ClassWallet team for a timeline on when funds for canceled orders will be returned to their account.
