Understanding Recurring Weekly

What recurring weekly classes are and how to manage your recurring weekly class enrollment

How recurring weekly classes work

Recurring weekly classes let learners continue studying a topic with the same teacher without a set end date. They work well for ongoing topics like art classes, book clubs, music lessons, and other classes that benefit from continuous learning. Because recurring weekly classes are ongoing, they meet at least once per week and use weekly enrollment periods to determine when learners can attend class meetings and view classroom content.

Read on for more details about recurring weekly class enrollments, including weekly charges, class access, pausing, stopping, resuming, and refunds.

What your recurring weekly enrollment covers

Your learner’s access to a recurring weekly class is based on the weekly enrollment period. Recurring weekly enrollments are charged each week while the enrollment is active, and each charge starts a new enrollment period. This period runs from 4pm PT on the day the charge was made until 4pm PT on the following Sunday. Daylight Saving Time in the summer shifts this window one hour forward to 5pm PT.

Once enrolled in a recurring weekly class, learners gain access to classroom content starting from the week their enrollment begins. If you subscribe mid-week and the class doesn’t meet again until the following week, your learner will only see classroom content from the next weekly enrollment period.

Pausing a recurring weekly enrollment

If your schedule changes and you need to take a break from a recurring weekly class, consider pausing your enrollment. Before pausing, keep in mind that your learner’s seat is not reserved during the pause, and your learner will not have access to classroom content from the paused period.

Note: Enrollments paid for with ClassWallet or via purchase orders do not have the pause option.

How to pause a recurring weekly enrollment

Families can pause an enrollment for the current week from the Learner Schedule as long as they are within the refund window. The refund window is 24 hours from the most recent charge and before the class begins.

You can also unpause for the current enrollment week as long as there is at least one meeting remaining within the enrollment week.

Note: For recurring weekly classes, you can only pause enrollment for consecutive weeks.

What happens after a recurring weekly enrollment pause ends

When a pause ends, what happens next depends on whether the class has an available seat:

  • If the class has available seats, your learner’s enrollment resumes for the upcoming week; your saved payment method is charged; and you’ll receive a renewal email confirming the active enrollment.

  • If the class does not have available seats, you’ll receive an email letting you know that your learner was unenrolled.

  • If the class has a waitlist, your family is added automatically, and you’ll receive an email when a seat becomes available.

Stopping, withdrawing, or resuming a recurring weekly enrollment

If pausing is not the right option, families can stop or withdraw from a recurring weekly class.

Important: Canceling your Outschool membership does not automatically cancel your recurring weekly class subscriptions. Class enrollments are billed and managed separately. To stop being charged for a recurring weekly class, you must stop or withdraw from each class individually using the steps below.

Stopping or withdrawing from a recurring weekly class

Your learner’s recurring weekly enrollment does not stop if classes are missed. If the class is no longer a good fit, you may stop or withdraw from the class at any time from the Learner Schedule.

A few things to keep in mind if you choose to stop or withdraw from a recurring weekly class:

  • If you stop your enrollment in a recurring weekly class, your learner keeps access to available classroom content from the weeks they were enrolled.

  • If you withdraw from a recurring weekly class, your learner is removed from the classroom, including access to past classroom content.

Resuming a stopped recurring weekly enrollment

Families can resume a stopped recurring weekly enrollment until the next Sunday morning Pacific Time by going to the Learner Schedule or the Transactions page; after that time, you’ll need to resubscribe from the class listing page.

Note: The price of a recurring weekly class may be different if you stop and later resume your enrollment.

Refunds for recurring weekly enrollments

Refunds for recurring weekly enrollments depend on when the enrollment is stopped and whether the first class meeting has started. You will receive a full refund if you stop your enrollment within 24 hours of the charge, including the initial sign-up charge. Full refund eligibility ends once the first class meeting begins.

Note: Stopping your enrollment after the first class meeting begins or after the 24-hour period will stop future charges, but it will not refund your most recent payment.
