Understanding Your Payouts Data Report

Discover how the Payouts Data report can help you track your payments more effectively.

Updated over a week ago

The Payouts Data report provides educators with a detailed overview of their earnings. The report helps you better track your payments, understand the context of each payout, and manage your teaching activities more effectively. Here's how the information in each column assists you:

  • educator_user_id: The ID of the Outschool educator receiving the payout.

  • payout_year: The start date of the year in which the payout occurred or is projected to occur.

  • payout_month: The start date of the month in which the payout occurred or is projected to occur.

  • payout_week: The start date of the week in which the payout occurred or is projected to occur.

  • payout_date: The date when the payout occurred or is projected to occur.

  • payment_coverage_start_time: The start of the teaching period associated with the payout.

  • payment_coverage_end_time: The end of the teaching period associated with the payout.

  • section_start_time: The start time of the class section.

  • first_meeting_start_time: The start time of the first meeting within the teaching period associated with the payout.

  • last_meeting_end_time: The end time of the last meeting within the teaching period associated with the payout.

  • educator_timezone: The timezone of the educator who owns the class. All timestamp values in the report are reported within this timezone.

  • num_meetings: The total number of meetings within the teaching period associated with the payout.

  • instructors_list: The list of instructors who taught the section being paid out, followed by how many meetings that instructor taught in brackets. This field contains multiple instructors if the section was assigned to multiple organization instructors during the payout’s teaching period.

  • activity_title: The title of the class.

  • activity_subject: The subject taught in the class.

  • class_size_max: The maximum class size.

  • num_learners: The number of learners included in the payout.

  • teaching_hours: The total hours of live meetings taught in the payout’s teaching period.

  • booked_dollars: The total amount booked by families before refunds (Outschool's portion is excluded).

  • refunded_dollars: The total amount refunded to families, which reduces the educator's payout.

  • payout_dollars: The total amount paid out to the educator via PayPal.

  • payout_status: The status of the payout. Possible statuses: paid_out, projected_payout, fully_refunded, educator_coupon.

Modifications for Organizations

Organizations can access an alternate report that duplicates payout rows when multiple instructors are assigned to a section within the payout's teaching period. This version of the report includes the following changes:

  • instructor_name replaces instructors_list.

  • num_instructors is added.

  • num_instructor_meetings is added, indicating the number of meetings the instructor taught out of the total meetings in the payout's teaching period.

Note: If multiple instructors are assigned to the section during the payout's teaching period, a single payout will appear multiple times in the report. The original report lists each payout only once.

An instructor appears in a row of the section-weekly payout report if assigned to teach a meeting that started within the report's coverage period (payment_coverage_start_time and payment_coverage_end_time). If different meetings within the coverage period have different instructors, all instructors are in the instructors_list of the regular report. In the organization-specific report, each instructor has a row with duplicated data.
