Your Guide to Educator Badges on Outschool

Learn how and why Outschool assigns Educator Badges to our top teachers and organizations.

Updated over 2 months ago

To help families better navigate the Outschool experience, we have introduced a series of educator badges to display on teacher and organization profiles and elsewhere throughout the Outschool platform. These badges help highlight particular educators and organizations that may interest families.

Educators and organizations can earn badges as soon as they meet certain criteria, and badges are automatically removed from profiles if the criteria is no longer met.

Because some of the requirements for these badges could naturally shift for an educator or organization over time (like the number of bookings or enrollments received), families may see a badge added or removed more than once — and that’s expected! Badges will be added or removed from profiles on a monthly cadence.

There are four types of badges to know about:

Star Educator

Star Educators and organizations are top-rated, experienced, and highly responsive, with classes that meet Outschool's quality learning standards.

Star educators have completed our ACE learning program, a series of professional learning opportunities to help educators identify and practice teaching strategies that inspire a love of learning. Star educators have also had more enrollments, a very high star rating, and a very high response rate when compared to other educators.

Criteria for independent educators

In order to receive a Star Educator badge, an educator must meet the following criteria:

  1. Holds ACE Educator status, achieved by completing learning opportunities

  2. Has had ≥ 100 enrollments or ≥ 250 enrollment payments in the last 6 months

  3. Has a star rating of at least 4.95 when measured over the past 6 months

  4. Responds to at least 65% of the messages received within 24 hrs

  5. Is currently in good standing in regards to Outschool policy compliance

  6. Is offering at least one section in the next 30 days

Criteria for organizations

Organizations also have a set of criteria they are required to meet:

  1. The organization administrator holds ACE Educator status, achieved by completing learning opportunities

  2. Has had ≥ 250 enrollments in the last 6 months

  3. Has a star rating of at least 4.95 when measured over the past 6 months

  4. Responds to at least 65% of the messages received within 24 hrs

  5. Is currently in good standing in regards to Outschool policy compliance

  6. Is offering 3 or more sections in the next 30 days

Rising Star Educator

The Rising Star Educator or organization badge has similar criteria to the Star Educator badge, with slightly lower thresholds for eligibility. Rising Star Educators and organizations showcase robust potential for growth and are actively making significant progress to become a Star Educator on Outschool. We view this particular cohort of educators as highly likely to sustain their excellence and eventually attain the status of a Star Educator.

Criteria for independent educators and organizations

  1. Holds ACE Educator status, achieved by completing certain learning opportunities

  2. Has had >= 60 enrollments or >= 175 enrollment payments in the last 6 months

  3. Star rating of at least 4.9 when measured in the last 6 months

  4. Responds to at least 50% of the messages received within 24 hrs

  5. Is currently in good standing in regards to Outschool policy compliance

  6. Is offering at least one section in the next 30 days

Popular Educator

The Popular Educator badge is awarded to educators and organizations who are in the top 10% of sellers on Outschool. This 10% metric is based on the revenue generated by each educator or organization over the past 6 months.

Since these educators and organizations are some of the strongest contributors to the Outschool marketplace, this badge will recognize their role in engaging families with the platform and aligning their businesses with the needs of our global community.

For educators and organizations who qualify for both badges above, you may see both badges on their profiles!

ACE Educators

Some educators may not meet all of the above criteria yet but have a head start towards Star Educator or Rising Star Educator status by completing the ACE learning program. You can identify them by their ACE profile frames on their profile pictures. These educators may also be a great fit for many learners, as they have developed knowledge and expertise in creating empowering, inclusive online class experiences, and have demonstrated a commitment towards continuous improvement and learning.

New on Outschool

New educators joining Outschool will be awarded this badge to indicate their status on the platform to potential families. As with all Outschool educators, the Outschool team reviews new educators to ensure they have the teaching experience or subject-matter expertise for the classes they want to share with learners. The criteria for receiving the “New on Outschool” badge are as follows:

  1. Has received fewer than 5-star ratings, or

  2. Has been active on Outschool for less than 3 months, or

  3. Has taught fewer than 10 group class sections or 15 one-time/1:1 classes

It’s important to note that as soon as one of the above criteria is met, the “New on Outschool” badge will be removed.

Outschool's Educator Badges and ACE certification provide families with valuable insights into an educator's qualifications, experience, and dedication to high-quality education. These badges are valuable tools for families to find the perfect fit for their learners' needs and goals.

No matter what type of class you’re looking for on Outschool, all our teachers are committed to making your learner’s class experience the best it can be. We invite you to check out their latest classes or read more on the Outschool blog.
