Outschool’s AI Tools for Teachers

Transform class experiences into clear, engaging updates for families with Outschool’s AI tools for teachers.

AI Teaching Assistant

The AI Teaching Assistant streamlines the feedback process and saves teachers valuable time. Just jot down your notes and click Show Me the Magic.

The AI Teaching Assistant will create a descriptive and concise summary based on your input. Choose the one that best fits your needs.

Click Send Note to Family to automatically send the selected summary from your account to the learner's family. You can also review all previously sent notes in the parent message history.

Accessing the AI Teaching Assistant

  • For Tutoring Classes: Find the AI Teaching Assistant in the Note Maker tab of a learner's enrollment.

  • For Live Group Classes: Select the learner from the dropdown menu on the Enrolled roster in the classroom.

Tips for Success

  1. Provide Key Details: Enter 2-3 bullet points summarizing your feedback to help the AI Teaching Assistant generate accurate notes.

  2. Focus on Content: Don't worry about style, structure, or spelling errors; these will be automatically corrected. A concise summary might be more appropriate for shorter feedback.

  3. Review Carefully: Always check the suggested note before sending it to ensure it meets our Community Standards and is accurate.

  4. Privacy Matters: Share feedback only with the learner's parents or guardians, and avoid including any personal information like names, locations, identities, or medical details.

Family Experience: AI Teaching Assistant

  • Families receive the message directly from you.

  • Messages sent through the AI Teaching Assistant replace the general class update for that meeting.

Automatic Meeting Updates

Automatic meeting updates are AI-generated class summaries that keep families informed about what was covered in your classes. When a class recording is shared and automatic meeting updates are turned on, Outschool summarizes the teacher’s portion of the Zoom transcript to create, by default, a short, neutral, bulleted update that families can view with the shared recording.

Accessing and Managing Automatic Meeting Updates

Individual teachers and organization administrators can manage automatic meeting updates from Class Settings. Because recording sharing and summaries are managed separately, teachers can turn off or skip automatic class summaries without changing whether the recording itself is shared. When a summary is turned off or skipped, it will not appear with the recording or be sent by email.

Timing can affect whether a summary is generated or included in a parent email. If automatic meeting updates are turned back on later, the setting applies only to future recordings and will not generate summaries for past recordings where summaries were turned off or skipped. If a recording is shared after class, a summary may still be generated if automatic meeting updates were already on for that recording, but it may not be included in the post-class email depending on when the recording is shared.
