Time Zones and Daylight Saving Time (DST)

How Outschool adjusts times for Daylight Saving Time (DST)

Updated yesterday

Time Zones on Outschool

Outschool displays all times across the website in your local time zone. This includes:

  • Class times

  • Schedule request times

  • Classroom post times

We determine your time zone from your device settings.

Your device settings will usually pick up the correct time zone automatically. However, you can search “What is my time zone?” to confirm that your device is set correctly.

If the time zone displayed is not correct, please change the timezone of your device. For example:

If you are in another time zone for an upcoming class, you can override your device’s time zone from your Outschool settings to use a specific region’s time. Click "Save Changes" when finished.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) for Families

Outschool accounts for daylight saving time (DST) when displaying times. You do not need to manually change your schedule when DST begins or ends.

If you and your teacher are in different regions, your local class time may shift by one hour during a Daylight Saving Time transition.

To confirm your learner’s meeting time:

  • Check your Schedule for a full list of meeting times displayed in your local time zone.

  • Communicate with your teacher through the Classroom if you need clarification.

If you believe that you are seeing incorrect times on Outschool, please contact us.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) for Teachers

Class times follow the teacher’s time zone. Daylight Saving Time (DST) does not change your class time if you remain in the same time zone.

However, if you relocate or travel from a non-DST region to a DST region (or vice versa), meeting times may shift by one hour on your teaching schedule.

Outschool automatically updates schedules to reflect DST changes.
