Is uploading credentials required for educators?
Outschool does not require formal teaching credentials for educators to teach on the platform, and uploading credentials is not required for all educators. Learn more about the requirements for becoming an Outschool educator here. .
However, some public funding programs may require specific credentials, certificates, or training documentation before an educator can qualify for funded enrollments. If you want to be considered for those enrollment opportunities, upload the credentials requested for that program to your teacher profile.
Why should educators upload credentials to their teaching profiles?
Adding an eligible degree, certificate, license, or program-specific credential allows families to purchase classes using public funding programs, such as education savings account (ESA) funds or charter school funding. By uploading your credentials, you provide consent for Outschool to share your credentials with third-party organizations or individuals who may need to review them as part of the public funding process.
The information shared will be subject to the respective third-party privacy policies. We recommend you view these third-party privacy policies to understand how they handle your personal data. A list of current public funding states can be found here, and it will be updated periodically.
What kind of credentials can educators upload?
Educators can upload documentation that reflects their teaching credentials, advanced degrees, training certificates, or other certifications relevant to the subjects they teach on Outschool or to public funding program eligibility.
Examples include:
Teaching certificates
Licenses
Transcripts
Degrees
Program-specific training certificates
ex. California Mandated Reporter Training certificates
Ensure that your uploaded documents are clear and legible to avoid any delays in state-specific verification processes.
How do I upload credentials to my teacher profile?
To upload credentials to your teacher profile, start from your Teacher Dashboard.
1. Click Menu.
2. Select Credentials.
3. Use the credential drop-down to select the appropriate credential type.
4. Fill out the required information for the credential, where applicable.
5. Upload your credential resource or certificate.
If you have more than one required credential resource or certificate, upload each resource separately.
Do my credentials need to be active or current to upload them?
Educators should upload the latest version of any credentials they’ve been issued, even if they’re no longer in use. State-specific and program-specific funding program eligibility varies, and relevant credentials are reviewed according to each program’s requirements.
Some credentials or training certificates may expire or require periodic renewal. If a credential requires renewal, upload the current certificate or documentation once it is renewed.
Will educators know when they are receiving ESA enrollments?
Educators will not be able to see which enrollments are coming in via ESA or another public funding program unless a parent shares that information with them directly.
Since public funding eligibility varies from state to state and program to program, educators will not receive a confirmation from Outschool that their credentials have been verified for public funding spending.
Can organization educators upload their credentials?
Organization teachers can upload their teaching credentials/degrees at outschool.com/teach/credentials. As an organization admin, you can view the uploaded credentials of teachers in your organization by accessing the credentials page at outschool.com/organization/credentials.
For public funding programs that require educator credentials, eligibility is evaluated at the instructor and section level. Sections taught by eligible instructors may qualify for funded enrollments, even if other instructors in the same organization have not uploaded credentials or do not meet a given program's requirements. Every eligible instructor helps expand the organization's visibility to funded families.
