Outschool records all live classes for safety and quality assurance. As a reminder, all Outschool courses are recorded so students, parents, and our team can review them if necessary.
Videos are recorded through Zoom. After a class session, the video is uploaded directly to our private Outschool server, where it is encrypted and securely stored for 90 days. Original videos do not remain on Zoom and are permanently deleted after a brief period following the upload to Outschool. At Outschool, after 90 days, all recordings are deleted except as noted in our Terms of Service.
Teachers use class recordings to review and improve their classes. When a recording is shared with families, it can be accessed through the platform. Some recordings may not be shared, depending on the class recording settings.
Accessing Class Recordings
To access class recordings, learners must have attended a live class in that specific section or have been verified through our alternative Child Learner Verification process by the Trust & Safety team. Families must attend a live class within 90 days to maintain access to recordings; otherwise, they can retain access through the alternative Child Learner Verification process, which is available for those who prefer not to enable video for their learners.
Viewing Class Recordings
If a class recording has been shared, families can access it from the enrollment management page without entering the classroom. Before viewing a class recording on Outschool, families must agree not to share it with anyone. Once you’ve agreed, click the Play button to view the recording.
Understanding Class Recording Features
Shared recordings may include helpful features that make it easier to review and continue learning after class, such as an automatically generated class summary, practice suggestions, or highlighted moments from the recording. Depending on the recording, some of these features may not be available every time.
Privacy and Recording Policies
While parents are welcome to take pictures and videos depicting their own learners participating in class, it is never okay to capture or share other learners' faces or names. Such violations should be reported to Outschool Trust & Safety.
Outschool uses recordings to provide coaching to teachers, for customer support, and for compliance purposes. We take learners' and teachers' privacy seriously and never share class recordings (or any of our community members’ personally identifying information) outside of Outschool for marketing purposes or for any other reason without your explicit consent. Outschool retains videos for 90 days, after which they are automatically and permanently deleted. Also, in some cases involving child privacy issues, Outschool Trust & Safety may delete videos from viewing as well.
