Course
Courses at Outschool are structured learning experiences that follow a curriculum over a series of lessons. They require learning goals and offer one form of evaluation. This information should be outlined in the corresponding section of the class listing. Parents invest a larger amount of time and money into these classes, so it is important to clearly show how the class will be taught and what will happen each week.

Enrichment & Clubs
This format provides flexibility for educators to offer standalone topics each week or practice skills over time. Clubs & Enrichment are ideal for recurring classes like language conversation clubs, test prep, book clubs, current event discussions, or gaming groups.
When creating a class, think about how you will ensure that all learners feel welcomed into your class who enroll late. Need some tips on how you might do that? Read more here! You must list a minimum of four topics in order to be approved, unless your class is learner-directed or dictated weekly based on current events/happenings.
Let’s Write Paragraphs!
This class will teach basic paragraph writing skills to create well-structured and cohesive paragraphs. Learners will learn how to communicate their ideas clearly and cohesively.
Our Paragraph Writing class will emphasize the importance of proper paragraph outlines and provide a simple formula for writing successful paragraphs. Each class meeting will cover different paragraph types and topics to keep things engaging and informative for learners. By the end of this class, you'll be equipped with the skills to write well-structured and effective paragraphs for any writing task.
Week of June 1: Tell a story about a pet. Narrative Paragraph
Week of June 8: Describe a favorite food. Descriptive Paragraph
Week of June 15: The impact of technology. Expository Paragraph

Leap into Creativity: A Frog Watercoloring Class
Welcome to Leap into Creativity, a painting class that celebrates the unique features of frogs, including their distinctive webbed feet and bulging eyes. In this course, we will dive into the art of painting frogs with watercolor painting techniques.
We'll be painting a new frog image in watercolor each week. Frogs may include the Red-Eyed Tree Frog, White Tree Frog, Tropical Dart Frogs, and the Northern Leopard Frog, to name a few.
While our frogs will change each week, our class format will always remain the same. In each class, students are guided with step-by-step instructions so that they can create their masterpieces with confidence.
Whether you're a seasoned painter or starting, we'll explore frogs and watercolor. Get ready to unleash your creativity and bring these fascinating amphibians to life on canvas!

Tutoring and Private Lessons
Tutoring classes offer live, one-on-one personalized lessons tailored to a learner’s needs or interests. Be sure to describe your teaching style and the topics you’re able to offer.
Middle School Math Tutoring
I understand that math can be a tricky subject for many middle school students, but don't worry - there is help! My math tutoring program is designed to provide personalized support and help every child reach their full potential.
Whether a child needs help with math homework, or test preparation, or just wants to improve their understanding of math concepts, this class has it covered. Experienced tutoring helps students cover various topics in middle school math, including pre-algebra, geometry, fractions, and decimals.
And if a learner just needs help with homework, this can provide individualized attention to ensure they understand each concept fully since this tutoring session is flexible and can be tailored to meet the unique needs of the learner.

One-Time Class
One-time classes are a great way for new teachers to get started on Outschool. Because these classes only meet once, the description can be much sparser than that of a longer class, but you'll still want to make clear what students will learn, how they will learn it, and if they must bring any materials to class.
Let’s Bake Cookies (ages 11-14)
During this class, students will learn how to make chocolate chip cookies. We will discuss the ingredients, how to measure them properly if they are dry or liquid, why the order of ingredients matter in recipes, what role different ingredients play and finally, how to safely use the oven to bake the cookies. So, this class will not just be about learning how to bake, but students will also learn math and science concepts as they do so! As the teacher, I will guide the students through the process of preparing the dough and baking the cookies through modeling and describing what I am doing.
In the materials section below, you can find everything that you will need for this class. The students will be baking as I teach the class, so parental supervision is a must.

Self-paced Learning
Clubs, Courses, and One-Time classes can be set to provide self-paced learner rather than live lessons. In a self-paced class, teachers conduct the class by posting pre-recorded lessons. Because the absence of a live meeting can make self-paced classes less clear-cut than live classes, it is important to be explicit about how students will interact with the material and with you during class.
Introduction to French (ages 8-12)
Throughout 8 lessons, students will explore a variety of vocabulary through pre-recorded videos, games, flashcards, songs, and other engaging resources as an introduction to French. This is a self-paced learning course where students progress at their own pace, with no live meetings scheduled for this class, but receive full teacher support through monitoring of submitted work.

Week 2: Greetings, simple sentences
Week 3: Numbers, Days of the Week, Months of the Year
Week 4: Weather, Colors, Shapes

Lesson videos are 30 minutes long, with about 30 minutes of practice work each week. Please allow 3 business days for feedback on final assessments.
Learning Goals:
By the end of this course, students will have developed a foundational understanding of French vocabulary encompassing greetings, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, weather, colors, shapes, animals, grocery shopping, school, and household items for basic communication in various everyday scenarios.
