Outschool is designed so that a parent is the primary account holder. At this time, your Outschool account can only be attached to a single email address, so it should be set up with the email address of the person who will be purchasing Outschool classes. Learners then access classes through the parent account.
Parents can set preferences for each of their learners under the umbrella of the parent account. Learner settings can be added or edited from your account settings page, under Learner Preferences.
Learner profiles include:
Name
Age
Birthday
Preferred pronouns (“How should the teacher refer to your learner?”)
How to support your learner
Optional email for the learner to receive class notifications
For learners to receive email notifications of @-mentions on the Outschool classroom, a valid email address must be listed within their learner settings.
Any information under “Information for Outschool” is private and only visible to our support team. Teachers will not see your learner’s birthday or email.
For the pronoun section, you can either choose “he,” “she” or “they” as your learner’s pronoun or leave the option blank so that no pronoun is selected. While you’re on the settings page, you can either manually add your learner’s age or add their date of birth to keep their age up to date. Please note that if no birthday is selected, your learner’s age will update each year on the day that you last entered it. You can also choose an avatar that will appear next to their name in messages or classroom comments.
The public information included in your learner’s settings is shown to teachers in their view of enrolled learners, along with any previous classes of theirs your learner has taken. See the teacher's view below:
You can edit your learner's settings by clicking the "settings" button next to their name. If you wish to delete a learner, please contact us at support@outschool.com.
